When You Need To Loosen Up

Hello Everyone.

Every once in awhile, artists get blocked. No one really knows why, we just know it happens to everyone. As a matter of fact, it not only happens to everyone, but it happens on a some what regular basis. Whenever I seem to either get into a compositional rut or my technique is failing me, I have learned to go to the “loose” style of painting which helps me to get a fresh look at what I am doing as well as creating unknown fun as I go.

For me, I loosen up by painting with a pallet knife only. When I get into that mode, I do not touch a brush, only the knife. I squirt a lot of paint out on the pallet, I apply colorful strokes with the knife and I look for the painting to appear.

Normally, By the time I have finished one pallet knife painting my creative vibe is back and I can go about creating beautiful and unique landscape paintings I not only like, but also enjoy creating.

May times I say to myself and others, if your not having fun oil painting, you are doing it wrong. It is not just a saying, I honestly believe it. Whenever we enjoy something we are doing, we tend to get it that little extra we are not even aware of. That little bit extra comes from inside ourselves, our inner artist if you would. That is the difference between painting a picture and creating art.

Have A Blessed Day My Friends
