Original Oil Painting. Landscape Painting

original landscape oil painting

Hello Everyone.

As the work week is rapidly approaching the refuge of the upcoming weekend I find it time to think more about my artistic endeavors and where I am going with my landscape oil paintings. Actually, in this case, where I have been.

This is an older 18” X 24” landscape oil painting. Maybe three years old. I sold it at a juried art show in LaGrange, IL last year, so the creation date eludes me at the moment.

This painting was a lot of fun to create. As always, I had to have a water element in the composition. This one also had a whole lot of different greens in it as well. What was cool about these greens is the fact that I only used one tube green and then I mixed the heck out of it. I think I counted seven or eight different greens in this painting, yet only one tube color.

Rarely do I use more than five tube colors plus white. I find that my paintings have a more harmonious look to them when I only use a few tube colors. You can use as many different colors as you want, as long as they are mixed with only a few tube colors. That is where the harmonious color theme works.

When I was a beginning artist oh so many years ago, I like most just starting out thought the more tube colors we had the better. As you gain experience and begin to talk to other artists you begin to realize that less is indeed more.

Have A Blessed Day My Friends
