Displaying Your New Oil Painting
Hello Everyone;
So, you just purchased that original oil painting you have been thinking about for awhile now. Original art is not cheap, so you had to make sure you connected with the piece, your significant other connected somewhat and that you were ready to invest in fine art.
Depending on what you purchased will determine how you display for new found joy. The painting pictured is an 18” X 24” original oil painting that I completed on stretched linen. Now comes the display part. This particular stretched linen has a 1.5” deep cradle with the edges painted. Simply put, this piece is not designed to be put into a frame, but to be hung on the wall and enjoyed as is.
Some narrower profiles can hang on the wall, if the edges are painted or put into a frame. Some works of art offer a choice on how to display them, others, not so much.
The picture on this post shows one of my original oil paintings in a home setting. Even though every home is different, it still can give the prospective art buyer a reasonably good idea on how that particular painting may look in their own home.
A great resource for learning how to display original artwork is of course the internet. Many interior designers have pages and pages of best practices, new trends and the old faithful, vintage look. When it is all said and done though it is still up to you. Whatever it was the connected you with that piece of original art will also help guide you on how to display and enjoy it as well.
Have A Blessed Day.
