Original Oil Painting “Simple Beauty”
Hello Everyone,
This is a new 11” X 14” original oil painting I just completed this past weekend. I went with an old saying in art, actually in many professions. “Less is more”
In the case of this composition, I was in a very peaceful mood. I wasn’t jumping all around, but I felt a sense of contentment. When I started this composition, I really did not have much of a road map of what I wanted. Like normal, I just started adding color to the panel and waited to see what appeared.
What appeared was a simple, yet peaceful painting of a lush forest and its reflection in the relatively calm foreground waters.
Each time I look at this piece, I do remember that simple does work most times.
We as people tend to complicate everything in our lives to the point where we do not know where to turn. We get confused, frustrated and at times, give up on what we love because we put so many un intentional obstacles in our way.
When I look back at my own life, the biggest reason for most of my failures was me. I do not mean just failures as an artist, I mean as a human, a husband a son a brother. When I look at things with an objective lens, I can plainly see where I took the wrong approach of my own accord, no one forcing it upon me.
As I have become older, I can now see the signs of getting in my own way and making things more difficult. When you can see the signs coming, is the only way to overt the inevitable.
Every once in a while, I need to produce a painting like this to remind me to keep it simple. Like I said earlier, I never intended this painting to be this simple beauty. My inner artist apparently knows me better than I do and knew it was time.
Have A Blessed Day My Friends
