New Original Oil Painting
Hello Everyone.
Here is a new original oil painting I have titled "My Waters Shall Cleanse Thee"
Once again, I had a painting take on a life of its own. I started this painting with the basic composition in mind, but it soon changed to what we now see.
Since I had three distinctly different areas where trees would ive, I needed to make them all a bit different. The rocks on either side of the falls helped greatly with this. It gave me a deliberate cut off for each section of trees.
The other element I was looking for was complete desolation. I find that painting solitude really helps me concentrate on the task at hand. For some reason, whenever I paint a scene that appears to me untouched by man, my own mind flows with mood and my inner artist just seems to go to town.
This painting is on my usual Ampersand Gessobord, but what is not usual is the size. My main support is the Gessobord by Ampersand. It is museum quality, American made and highly archival. I love the 1/8" thick hard wood panels they have because my clients can either frame them in a standard size frame or hang on the wall as is with velcro.
However, I have never gone this large with the 1/8" thickness. I have always worried about the support warping as it became larger. Well, Ampersand makes some really good stuff, because this piece had no noticeable warping at all. Ampersand claims their panels do not warp, and so far, they are correct.
This painting has been added to my store and is available for purchase.
I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
Until next time
